An unrehearsed reading of
THE ELECTION MONOLOGUES
Written by Suzie Miller (Prima Facie & 2023 Tony and Olivier Award winner)
Conceived by Abigail Gonda
Based upon interviews conducted and approved.
“I am crying now with loud sobs...
And I am mourning the freedom we once had.
I must speak up.
I must believe we can find our way back”.
These monologues highlight the injustices that are in play NOW, and that that are at risk of proliferating if the outcome of the imminent US election swings right. The outcome affects us all.
In countries all over the world, let this be a stand taken against normalising such rights annihilations, by using art as a tool for the conversation.
Don’t risk thinking it ‘won’t happen here’.
Four deeply personal stories from the frontline of the battle for intellectual and reproductive freedom in the US, today.
Created from interviews with librarians and doctors working in Idaho. This is a wake-up call for us all. If it can happen there, it can happen anywhere.
We hope these stories inspire action.
The 2024 US election is looming so in the spirit of urgency, they are intended to be nimble and light on their feet.
