Lemon Tree, Aberdeen

★★★★
Although the show is designed for young children, and probably best for 3-5 year olds, I’m strongly tempted to recommend it to everyone, of any age, who is feeling a little short of sparkle this Christmas; and needs some generous, joyful and powerful unicorn energy, to help them find it again
— The Scotsman
★★★★
It’s a big, glittering, retro disco, where unicorns Luna and Melody call on their young (and not-so-young) audience to help save Christmas
— All Edinburgh Theatre
★★★★
The whole production is so much fun, so sparkly and so energetic with the little ones really being included throughout.
— Broadway World
★★★★
Stay for the joy and music, and leave knowing how to do the Unicorn bow. Now that’s what we call quality entertainment.

Great, whimsical fun for little ones and an hour to beam at the delectable joy of the very same. Judging by my niece’s review, we might be going again before the curtain closes for the final time.

In 2021, three of Scotland’s largest cultural organisations - Aberdeen Performing Arts, Eden Court Highlands and Capital Theatres - joined forces to offer a unique, multi-year commission to create and produce three small-scale festive productions for early years audiences, each to be presented in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Inverness between Christmas 2021 and Christmas 2023.

A panel representing all three organisations awarded commissions to Scottish Theatre Producers with The Enormous Christmas Turnip, Barrowland Ballet with The Gift, and Raw Material with Unicorn Christmas Party, which opened at The Lemon Tree in Aberdeen in December 2021.
